International shipping and invoicing: VAT, customs, and addresses

If you're ordering from outside Romania, here's how invoicing currency, VAT, addresses, and customs work — and what to do if your parcel gets held.

Invoicing currency

If your order is delivered in Romania, the invoice is issued in RON — even if you paid in EUR or USD. This is a Romanian fiscal requirement, not a Printoteca choice, and it applies regardless of your billing country.

VAT treatment

  • EU customers with a valid VAT ID: if you're a business registered for VAT in another EU country and provide a valid VAT ID at checkout, the order is invoiced under the reverse charge mechanism — no Romanian VAT is applied on the invoice.
  • EU customers without a VAT ID (consumers): standard VAT applies as shown at checkout.
  • Non-EU customers (e.g. Switzerland, UK, US): we do not charge Romanian VAT, but your shipment may be subject to import duties, customs VAT, or other charges in your own country. These are set by your local customs authority, not by Printoteca — we can't predict or cover them.

Address requirements

Your delivery address must include a street number. Addresses without one (common in some countries' address formats) cannot be processed automatically — they require manual handling by our team and can delay dispatch. If your country's addressing convention doesn't use street numbers, add the nearest equivalent (building name/number, block, or a note) so the parcel can be routed correctly.

Transit through third-country hubs

International parcels sometimes route through a FedEx hub in a country other than yours or ours — for example, a parcel to the Netherlands may transit through a Swiss hub. This is normal routing, not an error or a sign your parcel is lost. Check the tracking link for the latest scan; the destination on the label is what matters, not the transit stops.

Customs holds

If your parcel is held at customs, authorities sometimes ask for additional information about the goods — typically the producer's details and the material composition of the garment. We provide these documents on request; contact us with your order number and we'll send what's needed.

Tracking your parcel

Use the tracking link sent with your shipping confirmation to follow your parcel's status. For questions about a specific shipment (delayed scan, unclear status, hub transit), contact us with your order number — we can look into it with the courier directly.
